The Duck 'N' Nuck- a sleeping pill that works

A series only a mother could love.
  • painful, yet good hockey, let's be thankful it only went 5 games

I apologize profusely for having to once again use our mothers' as a source of entertainment and as a means of getting a good solid blog in for today. Just as my recent (ha!) blog from ages ago pointed mercilessly at their protective ways, we now focus on a quality that no one else would ever be able to accomplish.

Maybe i'm just being harsh but the bottom line is, when it comes to style with the Ducks and the Canucks... value village, granny anny and a rigger's dress code would have considerably more. Just as the gag-inducing girl in fifth grade may have been a really good person overall...such is the case with the ducks who have perennial all-stars Chris Pronger and Scott Neidermayer on their HUGE backend, but when it comes time to watch them, Granny Annys cooking show all of a sudden looks good. (sorry to pick on you gran, your just such a great person inside). These two teams have the glitz and glamour of Vegas at dawn, with stanley cup aspirations afar, but when it comes right down to it...this league is for entertainment...and entertainment is what these guys are not...unless you find blocked shots, dump-ins and 2-1 games truly fascinating.

A year ago, these teams were candy for the eye...the canucks boasted bertuzzi and naslund, a pylon of a goalie (more goals!) and freewheeling hockey that could make a fish gasp for air. The Ducks were at one time Mighty but then the one year they thought they'd finally be mighty, they took it out. This year, the canucks got a rock of a goalie, their best player and really, their most exciting, but his job is to make the game less exciting by allowing less goals. Thanks Roberto!

The two teams have winning down to an art...yet they are like going to the Mendel art gallery. There you will find many paintings and artwork that when you look at it you might question how it got there...but the main thing is it got there...with a 1st place badge stamped onto it! Perhaps we're missing something...this supposed good hockey with a deeper meaning, a deeper effort, a deeper strategy. We'll wonder in June how that team got there, how a team with such a great talent to bore its viewers got to hockeys greatest stage...but...

Let's face it.....

Duck Hockey + Nuck Hockey = Suck Hockey
